The Finnish Composers Sibelius Fund deals out following grants and scholarships to promote Finnish music:
- Scholarships for composing contemporary classical music. Scholarships will not be granted for recording pieces or acquisition of instruments or equipment.
- Grants for commissions of compositions. These grants can be applied by musicians and festival organizers to cover the commission fees. The applicant can also be of foreign origin, but the composer shall be either of Finnish nationality or have a permanent residency in Finland.
- Pegasos-grants for composing Finnish poetry, especially Fenno-Swedish lyric poetry. Focused primarily on the works of Finnish poets who are still alive. The grant can also be given to the poet.
The receiver of the grant must write a disquisition on the usage of the grant by the end of the year 2010. The scholarship mentioned in paragraph 1 is tax-free income for the composer. Grants mentioned in paragraphs 2 and 3, instead, are liable to taxation.
