The Society of Finnish Composers The Society of Finnish Composers is celebrating its 60th anniversary in a country that has fulfilled many of its hopes. Sampo Haapamäki wins the Gaudeamus Prize 2004 Sampo Haapamäki has won the Gaudeamus Prize 2004 with his work 'Signature'. Harri Ahmas in the final rounds of the 1st International Uuno Klami Composition Competition The I International Uuni Klami Composition Competition has selected among 117 entries the five competitors for the final rounds of the competition on Sep 17-18, 2004. Among the selected pieces is "Symphony no. 2" by Harri Ahmas. Mikko Heiniö elected as a member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Music Finnish composer Mikko Heiniö (b.1948) has been elected as a member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Music. 'The House of the Sun' by Rautavaara to be premiered in the US Einojuhani Rautavaara's (b.1928) opera 'Auringon talo' (The House of the Sun, 1989–90) will receive its American premiere at Walton Arts Center in Fayetteville, Arkansas on July 9, 2004. Takefu International Composition Award to Juha T. Koskinen Juha T. Koskinen's (b. 1972) work 'Sogni di Dante' (2004) has won the Takefu International Composition Award 2004. |
